Professor William Chik

Cardiologist & Interventional Electrophysiologist

Professor William Chik is an Interventional Cardiac Electrophysiologist, Cardiac Device Implantation Specialist and adult General Cardiologist.

Professor Chik has extensive experience in general cardiology, hypertension and heart failure management. He specialises in management of heart rhythm disorders and is an expert in radiofrequency ablation of cardiac arrhythmias. He has special interests in cardiac device implantation including pacemakers, implantable defibrillators and biventricular pacing to deliver cardiac resynchronization therapy in heart failure patients.

Professor Chik was awarded his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery degrees in 2002 and subsequently completed advanced cardiology training at Westmead Hospital. He has also obtained his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree by the Faculty of Medicine at The University of Sydney.

Professor Chik returned to Australia in 2015 following the completion of his two year clinical interventional fellowship specialising in cardiac arrhythmias and cardiac device management at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, in the United States where he worked and published clinical research with numerous renowned world leading experts in the field.

Professor Chik currently has academic appointments with the University of Sydney and University of Notre Dame Australia. His enthusiasm and ongoing commitment to active clinical teaching and research led to his position as Clinical Lead for Post-Graduate Cardiology Training at Westmead Hospital.

Professor Chik has public appointments as a Consultant Cardiologist at Westmead and Auburn Public Hospitals. He is also accredited to provide care at Macquarie University Hospital, Westmead Private and Norwest Private Hospitals.

He is a current Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP), Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand (FCSANZ) and American College of Cardiology (FACC).
